WHAT WE DO
At NPW we practice here and now treatments that are designed to help you cope with your symptoms and improve your day to day function. We believe that action is equally as important as insight for helping you improve your mental health and achieve your goals.
We practice cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, specialized treatments for PTSD, and complicated grief and bereavement treatment such as EMDR, IFS (Internal Family System), and Ego State Therapy.

Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
Good treatment begins with a good, evidence-based assessment.
Assessments consist of collecting information and drawing conclusions through the use of observation, testing, and interviews to determine the issue(s) and symptoms you are presenting with.
Privacy Statement
Psychologists are ethically bound to protect your privacy, and information about you will generally never be released without your permission. However, there are limits to confidentiality that you should understand before you agree to begin psychological assessment or treatment.
There are situations in which, as a psychologist, I am required by law, to release confidential information. A psychologist is required to do whatever is necessary to protect life; therefore, if there is a concern for the safety of either yourself (i.e., if you are at risk to harm yourself), or someone else, information necessary to preserve that safety will be released.
Under the Ontario Child and Family Act, I must report child abuse. If you give information about past or present abuse of a person who is still a child, and this information is not already known to the authorities, I must report such information.
If you are involved in a legal action or court case, your psychological file may be subpoenaed by the court, in which case that material would no longer be private. You should discuss this possibility with both your lawyer and with myself.
Fees
Psychological assessment and treatment is not currently covered by OHIP. However, our services are covered, partially or in whole, by the majority of insurance plans.
Our private rate is consistent with the 2015 Ontario Psychological Association rate of $235/hour for regular therapy sessions.
Psych legal/Med legal assessment fees depend on the complexity of the case and the amount of work involved in the assessment.
We require payment after each session and are pleased to accept Cash, Cheque, Debit, VISA, and Mastercard.
If you need to cancel an appointment, please inform us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. We are happy to find a new appointment that works for you. If you are unsure of when your appointment is, you can contact our office at 905-641-1116 to confirm.
